Description:
Vintage Conner Peripherals CFS420A 340MB IDE hard drive, originally supplied for Compaq systems (Part No. 94119-002 / 164830-001). Early 1990s CHS-architecture drive used in 386, 486, and early Pentium-era machines.
This unit comes from an Ion Geophysical asset liquidation, indicating long-term storage in a professional, climate-controlled lab environment. This type of provenance is desirable for vintage magnetic media, as controlled conditions help preserve internal components over time.
Drive retains original labeling and includes attached ribbon cable. PCB is clean and populated with period-correct ICs including Cirrus Logic and other controller chips.
Original factory warranty seals are intact; drive has never been opened.
CHS BIOS Geometry (Required for Setup):
• Cylinders: 665
• Heads: 16
• Sectors: 63
Important Compatibility Note:
This is an early CHS-architecture drive. It may not be recognized by modern USB-to-IDE adapters. It is intended for use with native IDE controllers on vintage motherboards (386/486/Early Pentium).
