Do not place an order because I will need to cancel.ProDOSROM is a peripheral card for the Apple II series computers that acts as aread-only solid state disk drive (SSD) all in EPROM. It isloaded with the powerfull ProDOS operating system. The card hardware version v4.0 (latestversion) is based on a design by Terence J. Boldt and is part of an open-source project on github.

This ProDOS ROM card makes the computer bypass your diskdrive(s) all together at boot up. Whenplugged into one of the computer slots it becomes the primary device yourcomputer boots from. The ROM cardsoftware menu includes options to boot from other slots so you can also bootfrom you standard disk drives this way.You have only lost a few seconds, because your ProDOS card boots in 1second. The ROM card contains 1Mbyte of data, nearly enough to fillyour 64Kbyte apple II/+ 20 timesover. It is like having over 10 Floppydisks at your instant disposal.

The card has beveled gold plated edge fingers to go gentleon your computer expansion slots. Note,not all cards sold out there are gold plated. Also the socket that containsyour ROM is a machined round pin socket also gold plated. You could easily remove the EPROM memory (withoutbeing afraid of damaging the socket) and change the contents of the EPROM toyour liking. You would need a UV lightEPROM eraser and programmer to do this. TheEPROM contents is made with a free tool called CiderPress and there are manygithub repositories to help you along the way. Always make sure the Apple ispowered off when adding or removing any cards. Take note of the correct orientation of the card (ROM towardskeyboard). The seller will not be held responsible if you damage your Apple orcard due to this.

One more small thing, I you have an apple II/+, it can only displayuppercase characters, and many of the Game ROM’s out there claiming to be forApple II +, have the main menu inlowercase, resulting in a scramble of illegible characters on the main menuscreen. (The photos they show on are not taken on an Apple II+, but on an Apple IIe). Makesure to ask before you buy. (this card has the main menu all in uppercaseto be fully compatible with Apple II/+).
