Western Digital Elements 10TB External Hard Drive (Internal Model: WD100EDAZ)
Flexible Shipping Options (External or Bare Drive)By default, this drive will ship fully assembled in its original Western Digital Elements external enclosure, complete with the required power adapter and USB cable. However, if you are planning to use this in a server or NAS and prefer it shucked, please send a message at checkout. I am happy to carefully remove it from the enclosure and ship it to you as a bare 3.5" internal SATA drive. (Note: The plastic enclosure does show some standard cosmetic scuffs and scratches from storage and handling).
Usage History & Workload NoteIf you are looking at the SMART data, you will notice this drive has 37,615 power-on hours (approximately 4.3 years) and 1,043 power cycles. However, this drive was used exclusively as a Chia farming drive.
In Chia farming, once the initial data (plots) is written to the drive, the workload drops to near-zero. The drive simply remains powered on and performs very occasional, microscopic read operations to check for proofs. It has not been subjected to the heavy, continuous read/write thrashing typical of enterprise database servers, heavy NAS usage, or standard desktop environments. The high hour count purely reflects uptime, while the actual mechanical wear on the actuator arm and read/write heads is exceptionally light.
