BIGTREETECH EBB36 / EBB42 CAN Extruder Breakout Board
Klipper Hotend HeadTool with CANBUS & USB-C Support
🔧 Overview
The EBB36 / EBB42 is a nozzle adapter breakout board purpose-built for 36 and 42 size extruder stepper motors. It communicates via USB-C or CAN bus, drastically simplifying toolhead wiring on Klipper-based 3D printers. Available in CAN, GEN2, and MAX31865 (PT100/PT1000) variants, plus the companion U2C 2.1 USB-to-CAN bridge module.
⭐ Key FeaturesOnboard TMC2209 Driver
UART-controlled stepper driver built directly onto the board for quiet, reliable extruder motion.
CAN Bus or USB-C
Flexible communication options with selectable 120R terminal resistor via jumper cap.
PT100/PT1000 Support (MAX31865 variant)
Onboard MAX31865 supports 2-wire or 4-wire PT100/PT1000 for high-temperature hotends.
Built-in Protection Circuits
Thermistor leakage protection, anti-flyback diodes, reverse-polarity protection, and ESD-protected USB port.
ADXL345 Accelerometer
Onboard sensor supports Klipper input shaper resonance testing.
DIY-Friendly Design
Includes terminals, female reeds, double-way studs and screws for easy wiring.

No, this board currently only supports Klipper firmware.
What's the difference between CAN and GEN2 versions?
GEN2 is a newer hardware revision of the same board. Both support CAN bus and USB-C communication.
Do I need the U2C module?
Only if your main controller does not already have a native CAN bus interface. The U2C converts a USB port into a CAN bus connection.
Can this read PT100 temperature probes?
Only the MAX31865 variant supports PT100/PT1000 sensors directly; standard versions use NTC thermistors.
