Global Village TelePort USB Fax Modem B100 Vintage Apple Macintosh iMac Untested
Price: US $21.07

Up for sale is a vintage Global Village Communication TelePort USB Fax/Modem, Model B100, manufactured by Boca Research. This is the desirable USB version of the classic TelePort line, finished in the translucent smoke housing that was styled to complement the iconic Apple iMac G3 and iBook computers of the late 1990s. It is a true piece of retro computing history from the dial-up era and a fitting accessory for collectors building out a period-correct Macintosh setup.

The TelePort USB is a 56 Kbps external fax/modem that connected to the Macintosh by way of its onboard USB port, offering a simpler plug-and-play alternative to the serial-port modems of the day. It was designed for both data and fax use in home and office environments and carries full FCC Part 68 compliance (FCC ID IEJB100, FCC Registration IEJUSA-33695-M5-E), along with Industry Canada certification. The required telephone connection is a standard USOC RJ-11C jack.

Global Village Communication was one of the most respected modem makers for the Apple platform, known for hardware that worked seamlessly with the Mac without the adapters and configuration headaches common to PC-oriented gear. The TelePort series was a flagship product line, and the USB B100 represents one of the later and harder-to-find entries in that lineup, making it a great find for serious vintage Mac enthusiasts, retro hardware collectors, and anyone restoring a late-90s iMac, iBook, or Power Macintosh system.

This particular unit shows light age-related yellowing and surface wear as pictured, with all factory labeling intact and clearly readable. It has not been tested, so it is offered to the collector or hobbyist who can bring it back into service or display it as part of a vintage Apple collection. What you see in the photographs is exactly what you will receive.
