Seagate 8TB Hard Drive – Excellent Condition – Lightly UsedListed price is for 1 disk!!!Selling my Seagate 8TB hard drives, previously used exclusively for Chia cryptocurrency farming. The drives are in excellent physical condition and include their original boxes. How Were These Drives Used? These hard drives were used to store Chia cryptocurrency plots. Unlike traditional cryptocurrency mining, Chia farming uses hard drive storage space instead of continuously performing intensive calculations. Here’s why these drives have experienced relatively little wear:* Written Only Once: Each drive was filled with Chia plots during the initial setup. After that, the stored data remained essentially unchanged.
* Minimal Read Activity: Once the plots were created, the drives were connected to a server for Chia farming. The farming process primarily performs occasional, small reads to check stored plots rather than continuously reading large amounts of data.
* No Constant Writing: These drives were not used for operating systems, video surveillance, databases, or other applications involving frequent writing and rewriting.
* Excellent Condition: Because of their specific usage, these drives experienced a relatively light workload after their initial setup. What Is Chia Farming?Chia is a cryptocurrency that uses a Proof of Space and Time system instead of the energy-intensive mining process used by Bitcoin.Chia farmers store special files called plots on their hard drives. The Chia network occasionally checks these plots to determine whether a farmer qualifies to create a new block and earn rewards.Unlike traditional mining, this process does not require the hard drives to constantly read or rewrite large amounts of data. Once the plots are stored, farming generally involves very little disk activity. Why Buy These Drives? These Seagate 8TB drives are a great option for:* NAS (Network Attached Storage)
