This is a Synology RS1221+ NAS. We purchased it for a data storage project that ended up being canceled, so it was never used. It sat in a rack for a few months after initial setup with very little written to it.The NAS has been upgraded to 32GB RAM and includes 8 24TB 7,200RPM hard drives, as well as a brand new Synology M.2 adapter card (M2D20) which was never installed. We purchased everything in April of this year (2026) and will include receipts for warranty purposes. The RAM has a lifetime warranty, the drives have 5 year warranties and the NAS has a 3 year warranty.
We pulled two drives out and ran crystal disk info on them. For the first drive, power-on hours are 3,016 (it sat in a rack powered on) and TBW (terabytes written) is 12.76TB. I pulled out drive number 8, which shows the same 3,016 hours but only 1.32 Terabyes Written. Power cycles are 9 for all drives.
