Rare and fascinating 1961 FORTRAN Autotester from the Control Data Corporation Computer Division, designed as a self-training device for scientists and engineers working with early electronic computers.

This vintage #186A instructional flip book is housed in a vinyl cover with a six-hole punch mini-binder format and contains instructional material, diagrams, formulas, and technical information related to early FORTRAN programming.

The publication presents a fascinating glimpse into the early era of computer programming, when FORTRAN was emerging as an important tool for scientists and engineers. The original instructional concept was designed to help emancipate the scientist and engineer from the need for the professional programmer when working with modern electronic computers.

Vintage computer science / programming ephemera. Excellent collectible for early computing enthusiasts.

Overall great vintage condition for its age. The first page has personalization from a previous owner. The first page also has three torn hole punches; however, the page itself remains intact and securely attached through the other three hole punches. The remaining pages and binding are otherwise in great condition. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.

A highly interesting piece of early computer history and FORTRAN programming memorabilia, especially appealing to collectors of vintage computing, computer science history, programming manuals, Control Data Corporation, FORTRAN, engineering ephemera, and mid-century technical publications.

A unique addition to a vintage technology collection, computer-history display, library, or archive.
